What causes a bone spur?

A: A bone spur develops when your body produces excess bone in order to repair itself. Usually it forms in response to rubbing, stress, or stress. Bone spurs are common amongst athelets such as runners or dancers. The can also be caused by too tight shoes or shoes that don't fit properly; weight and age are also factors.
